I am an assistant professor in the division of Endocrinology (Center for Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases) and member of the Center for Musculoskeletal Disease Research. My research focuses on developing cell-based approaches for the repair of large bone defects that do not heal spontaneously. In particular, I am looking at improving the potential of adult stem cells to form bone by genetic manipulation, e.g, overexpression of growth factors that stimulate repair.
